Creating New Programers

Future IN Design (FIND) is a nonprofit that strives to give at risk youth the skills they need to succeed. I was lucky enough to be a part of this program teaching AP Programming with Java. We covered topics from basic computer parts all the way to recursion and polymorphism. The kids I had the honor of teaching were absolutely incredible and I could not ask for a better experience. I am excited to start again in the fall!

What I did Through High School

2016 - escalera foundation

My school, Lone Peak, raises money every December for the Escalera Foundation. This year I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Mexico and build a school with Lone Peak. I traveled down in March to Los Posos Mexico. I learned and grew a lot with the kids we met. They all work so hard and I am glad I had the opportunity to meet them. We built them a classroom, but that was not the most rewarding part. I am greatfull for the memories and the happiness that was shared. I am so glad I could help them get the education they deserve.

We build schools to end poverty. School brings opportunity. School brings hope. School is a ticket out of poverty. School changes everything. Share this video and let's #build100more!

Students Offering Assistance and Reassurance

During my 9th grade year I was chosen to be a guide for incoming 7th graders. I would teach lessons, help with homework or other issues, and most importantly be a friend to the students.  I am grateful for the students in that class because they helped me grow, become a better teacher, and a better leader.

2012 - Eagle

In June 2011, I started working on my Eagle Project. My mom suggested I do a book drive. I said I wanted to do something unique. She said "A book drive would be easy." I quickly replied with "It isn't supposed to be easy." What I ultimately decided to do was a Festival of Trees Christmas tree.

The Festival has been close to my family since I was born. My grandparents have always had a Festival Christmas tree in their house. I planned and ran two booths at our city's festival, Alpine Days, as a fundraiser. I also got a lot of help from my local church group making and donating ornaments and other objects I could use for my tree.

The day we built the tree at the Festival I took 4 people with me. It took us 9 hours to complete the setup. The total hour count on my project was over 450 and it raised $2,500 for Primary Children's Hospital. As a gift, my mom got me a plaque that reads "It isn't supposed to be easy." I still enjoy and feel very close to the Festival and volunteering there.
